What a fabulous island! Amazing walks, panoramic sea views and mountains of epic proportions. We spotted otters, peregrine falcons, whales at Neist Point, we could go on. Alas! there was not time to relax, there was too much to do! What a tiptoptastic holiday!"

Welcome to North West Skye. This is a place where the pace of life is relaxed, making it easy to escape the stresses of life and to unwind on an island of spectacular natural beauty with endless fresh air and freedom. It is a magnificent place whose quirky island charisma is still influenced by its rich culture and Highland heritage. Yes, you will still encounter sheep on the road, a cow gazing in your car window, wee red letterboxes set into stone walls. It's a place that hasn't lost sense of its roots.

Here rocky winged peninsulas reach far into the sparkling indigo blue waters of the Hebridean Minch, a magnificent landscape that combines mountains, seacliffs, islands, sealochs, secret beaches and amazing ever-changing light and mood from dawn to dusk. Those same views developing dramatic sunsets before your eyes, the fieriest palette you'll ever have seen.

Coastal west coast walks observe the call of the restless ocean, where whales, dolphins and basking shark are often sighted beside protruding hooks of land, that curl the sea into tidal whirlpools by bright white lighthouses. Often to be seen are the comical puffins and magnificent sea eagles which are top of many peoples 'would love to see' list, but just as impressive are the kittiwake, and cormorant or the plummeting gannets. On a gentler stroll to Coral beach dip your toes or let your imagination soar away with a kite. Serious climbers will not resist the temptation of 'The Mighty Cullin', whose jagged rocky ridge stabs into the bright blue sky from most viewpoints in North West Skye. For those that do want to get active, there are endless walks at all skill levels, mountain biking in forestry, pony trekking, river and sea fishing, or why not explore the coast and its beaches in a kayak, and for the more committed diving. It really is an outdoor treasure with a world class edge.

Dunvegan Castle, Trumpan Church, and Faery Bridge, are just a few of the many historic sites to visit. Steeped in legend, and home to Macleod's and MacDonald's, North West Skye had an often bloody and turbulent history, leaving legend and battle-site for you to discover. Come and feel the echo of voices past, hear their laughter, the skirl of the bagpipes, sense their torment and imagine their stories. Those same stories, tradition, and culture richly inspire our prolific arts and crafts industry today, and their delightful Studio Trails. Fire your imagination, watch potters and painters, tanners and stone carvers. Also richly influenced are our musicians, playing live at ceilidhs and pubs. Both traditional and new musicians are inventively inspired by their celtic and gaelic roots to give an exciting eclectic music that can be heard live in some local pubs and at the increasing local festivals.

For the wildly active, the outdoor enthusiast, the creatively minded, those seeking fine dining, the keen genealogist, the historically minded, families with children to tire, explorers and tourers North West Skye has plenty 'To see and do'.

See it all, do it all, and then rest awhile with the finest local food and wine you'll ever enjoy... and after, retire with a wee dram to ponder your day, by a cosy fire with a spectacular sunset seaview.
